Gas introduction
sulfur dioxide is the most common and simplest sulfur oxide, chemical formula SO2, it is a colorless transparent gas, pungent odor. Soluble in water, ethanol and ether. Sulfur dioxide is one of the main pollutants in the atmosphere. The gas is emitted during volcanic eruptions, and sulfur dioxide is also produced in many industrial processes. Because coal and petroleum usually contain sulfur, sulfur dioxide is produced when burned. When sulfur dioxide dissolves in water, it forms sulfite. If sulfite is further oxidized in the presence of PM2.5, sulfuric acid (one of the main components of acid rain) will be quickly and efficiently generated. This is one reason for concern about the environmental effects of using these fuels as energy sources.
Sulfur dioxide is mainly used for:
1, used as organic solvent and refrigerant, and used for refining various lubricants.
2, mainly used in the production of sulfur trioxide, sulfuric acid, sulfite, thiosulfate, also used as fumigants, preservatives, disinfectants, reducing agents and so on.
3. Sulfur dioxide is a reducing bleach permitted in China. It has a strong inhibitory effect on bleaching of food and oxidase in plant food. China stipulates that it can be used for wine and fruit wine, with a maximum usage of 0.25g/kg, and the residual amount shall not exceed 0.05g/kg.
4, pesticides, artificial fibers, dyes and other industrial sectors.
5, used for the production of sulfur and as insecticides, fungicides.
